Product description

The first bottling of the new Ardbeg series Smoketrails is the Manzanilla Edition. The Single Malt was partly matured in Manzanilla sherry casks and then blended with whisky from classic American white oak casks. Manzanilla, in its original form, is a dry, white wine made from grapes of the Palomino vine, which is mainly grown in the so-called sherry triangle (Jerez de la Frontera - Puerto de Santa Maria - Sanlúcar de Barrameda). The Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition convinces with notes of dark chocolate, salty accents and Brazil nuts in the flavour profile.

The Distillery: Ardbeg

The Ardbeg distillery was officially founded in 1815 by John McDougall. But Whisky was distilled long before that. There are no documentations, as Ardbeg was an illegal business back in 1794. read more

Insgesamt ein wenig schwach auf der Brust. Im Verhältnis weniger Rauch, als es der Name vermuten lässt. Der Smoketrail tut keinem weh - ein nicht untypischer Ardbeg mit Sherryeinschlag. Angenehme aber dezente Kräuter-, Heu- und Schokoladennoten in einer ausbalancierten Melange. Ausklang bleibt nur kurz im Mund, sowie der gesamte Whisky leider nur kurz im Gedächtnis. Zum aktuellen Preis (89,90 EUR) aber noch in einem gerade verträglichen Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Besonders wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich hier um einen Liter handelt.
Leider "nur" ein weiterer Ardbeg, der sich in eine länger werdende Reihe der gehobenen Mittelmäßigkeit einreiht.
