Variety Single malt whisky
Aroma Intense with notes of lavender, vetiver grass and incense. Facets of leather, wax and nutty almond notes are added. With a splash of water, hints of wood smoke, peat moss and menthol are released.
Taste Viscous and tangy with accents of salty and spicy flavours. Peat smoke, eucalyptus oil, mint chocolate and toffee dominate, leading into notes of smoked pecan, creosote and tar. Pear crumble and toffee towards the end.
Finish Long lasting with salted caramel, cooling menthol tones and a fine peat smoke note.

Product description
The Ardbeg Spectacular is the first from the popular and well-known Islay distillery to be matured in port casks as well as ex-bourbon casks. In addition to the classic bourbon cask maturation, the port casks give the Islay malt a rich flavour and interesting colouring. The special bottling was created for the Fèis Ìsle Festival 2024 and was initially only available to members of the Ardbeg Committee. On Ardbeg Day and the last day of the whisky festival on Islay, the Spectacular will go on sale on 1 June.

Schon beim ersten Riechen entfaltet sich eine charakteristische Rauchigkeit, die von der typischen angenehmen Süße begleitet wird. Nuancen von altem Leder und Eiche, aber auch Frucht, verleihen der Aromatik eine schöne Komplexität. Der Rauch wirkt keineswegs übermächtig, sondern harmoniert subtil mit den süßlichen Elementen. Am Gaumen ist der Spectacular von der Assoziation an Lagerfeuerromantik geprägt. Kräuter- und Beerenaromen steuern eine frische und leicht würzige Note bei und verleihen Fruchtcharakter. Beim mittellangen Abgang tritt das Fass mehr hervor.
Fazit: Der Ardbeg Spectacular ist ein solider Whisky mit einem besseren Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis im Vergleich zu anderen Abfüllungen. Trotz der gut balancierten Aromen und dem typischen Ardbeg-Charakter fehlt ihm jedoch die Tiefe und Raffinesse einer herausragende
