Product description
This 11-year-old single malt is part of the Arran Lochranza Distillery's Signature Series. The Barrel Bonfire Whisky is the second of a total of four bottlings, which are always selected in limited editions by Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman. With this bottling, the distillery invites you to learn more about the more heavily peated whiskies from Arran, which mature in ex-bourbon quarter casks from the Koval Distillery in Illinois, allowing the single malt to mature more intensively. Over the years, Lochranza has experimented with different levels of peat content, ranging from 14 ppm to 20 ppm to 42 ppm. Since 2017, Lochranza has no longer distilled peated whisky.

The Distillery:

The Lochranza distillery is located on the Isle of Arran, after which it was initially named. In 2019, Lagg, the second distillery on the island, opened. As a result, Arran renamed itself Lochranza to better distinguish it. However, the Single Malt Whisky is still available under the Arran brand. read more

Aroma: Rauch, zitronige Süße, leichte Vanille, sehr angenehm und vielversprechend Peat Smoke Sweet Vanilla

Geschmack: dezenter Rauch, etwas Würze, Frucht (Zitronat und Marzipan), Vanillezucker Vanilla Fruit Peat Smoke
Erinnert stark an Machrie Moor (ähnliche Rezeptur?)

Abgang: lang, sehr angenehm, wenig Bitterkeit, Rauch und Marzpan bleiben bis zum Schluss Sweet Fruit Peat Smoke

Kommentar: super drinkbar, Frucht und Rauch kommen mit etwas Wasser noch besser raus.... glatte 4 Sterne (Abzug 1 Stern wegen Preis). Mit dem Machrie Moor hat man ein sehr ähnliches Getränk zum besseren PLV / Preis.
