This Auchroisk is part of the Crazy Coo series from independent bottler The Caskhound by Thilo Schnabel, who showcases elegant single cask finishes in natural form with uncompromising character with style and creative labelling. The Auchroisk Single Malt matured for just over 14 years and, after maturing in a former refill bourbon cask, was bottled for a full 5 years in a single first fill Oloroso cask as the #8 bottling in this whisky series. The long cask finish, the absence of chill filtering and colour addition as well as the intense 56.2% vol. make the single malt with the crazy cow on the label a connoisseur's tip for single malt connoisseurs and explorers, far removed from overloaded scene single malts. Herbal, woody and cinnamon notes combine with leather and balanced, sweetish accents.

Kommentar: Frisch-fruchtige Kräuter- und Teearomen treffen auf süß-würzige Sherrynoten mit Aprikose, Orange und feinen Gewürzen. Der lange Abgang vereint nussige Süße mit orientalischer Würze und eleganter Eichenbitterkeit.

Aroma: Frisch mit spritziger Kräuterlimonade auf saftiger Honigmelone und wärmenden Noten von schwarzem Tee. Anklänge von reifen roten Äpfeln mit Karamellglasu folgen mit einem aperolartigen Bitterton. Dazu feine Gewürze, etwas Pfeifentabak und Liebstöckel.
Geschmack: Weich und angenehm ölig mit wärmendem Zimt und einer Spur Liebstöckel. Dann sanfte Pfeffernoten, bevor fruchtige Aprikosenmarmelade und kandierte Orangenscheiben übernehmen. Rosinenplätzchen und ein Hauch Mokka mit Süßholz folgen mit Leder und Holz.
Abgang: Langanhaltend, dabei zunehmend trocken. Karamellisierte Walnüsse und cremige Dattel treffen auf orientalische Gewürze wie Zimt, Piment und Nelken. Im Finale eine leicht bittere und ausgewogene Eichenwürze.
