The Aultmore distillery has been producing Speyside whisky since 1897. Water from a spring in the Foggie Moss region is used for the malt. After no original bottling was distributed in recent years, this 12-year-old Single Malt is now available.

Aroma: Honey Fruit Zitrus Herbs Floral Helle, süß-saure Früchte. Dazu frisch geschnittene Kräuter und Honig. Über allem eine blumige Frische nach Lavendel.

Geschmack: Fruit Sweet Spices Malt Süße Fruchtigkeit, sehr malzig, alles abgerundet durch prickelnde Gewürze. Zunächst milder als die Nase hätte erwarten lassen. Gewinnt dann aber nach einiger Zeit im Mund an Schärfe (vielleicht ein Virgin Oak Anteil?).

Abgang: Sweet Herbs Spices Herb Oak Klingt angenehm süß aus. Eine herbe Trockenheit breitet sich aus. Das Prickeln der Gewürze am Gaumen und ein Hauch von Eiche bilden einen schönen Kontrapunkt.

Kommentar: frischer und angenehmer Sommerwhisky, preislich für seine Klasse aber am oberen Ende angesiedelt.
