Product description
The Bivrost Midgard Arctic Single Malt comes from Norway and is produced in the northernmost distillery in the world. The whisky is called Midgard, which in Norse mythology is the place where the realm of mankind is located, nestled between the habitats of the Aesir and the giants. The name itself means something like 'protected area in the heart of creation'. The place Midgard is surrounded by an impenetrable ocean, inhabited by the colossal sea serpent Jörmungandr. A wall forms a protective barrier around Midgard, consisting of the brows of the colossal giant Ymir. The Norse gods can reach Midgard by crossing the Spiritual Bivrost, a bridge that spans the Northern Lights and is guarded by the watchful god Heimdall. The water for the Midgard whisky comes from the Elvejordvannet river, which receives melted glacier water from the Lyngen mountain range. The single malt was matured for 4-5 years in various Oloroso sherry oak casks. The casks consist mainly of European and American oak for complexity and Spanish oak also makes up a proportion of the casks.
