For the first time since its reopening in 2017, Bladnoch released a bottling with an age statement of 8 years at the Wigtown Book Festival last year. Mathematically, such a maturation period was not possible since the restart and the bottling with the name "Eight" is therefore not based on whisky from the new production phase, but contains distillate from much older stocks of the Lowlands distillery, which was distilled before the closure, i.e. before 2010. Strictly speaking, the age statement is therefore not the actual age of the whisky, but a stylistic preview of a future planned 8-year-old original bottling from new production. For this limited edition, Bladnoch's Master Blend Dr Nick Savage selected casks that were filled with whisky during the ownership of Raymond and Colin Armstrong (2001-2009). These original red wine casks from California were again combined with fresh Californian wine casks for the second maturation. This resulted in the "Bladnoch Eight - First Release", which is characterised by a particularly fruity profile, which unfolds at 46.7% vol. with sweetish aromas reminiscent of strawberries with cream. We were able to secure a few bottles of Bladnoch Eight through a German importer, who was the only one outside the UK to receive a few bottles of the limited bottling for the European market.

Preis/Leistung: Was soll man besser machen? Einfach top. Nick Savage hat es voll drauf!
