Product description
This Caol Ila is part of Gordon & MacPhail's 'Discovery Series'. In 2018, a revamp of the independent bottler's complete range followed, with the Discovery Series being a new addition. All their bottlings differ in Taste and due to their production. Thus, there are the three flavour profiles bourbon cask, sherry cask and smoky (smoky). The different characters differ in their colour design: green = bourbon cask; purple = sherry cask; white/grey = smoky.

Aroma: Dominantes Lagerfeuer, süße Zitrusfrucht wird mit der Zeit dominanter.

Geschmack: Startet sehr süß, dann kommt der typische Caol Ila Charakter durch und der Whisky wird trockener. Frucht habe ich weniger, dafür recht viel Holz.

Abgang: Recht trocken und holzbetont, anders als anfänglich zu vermuten.

Kommentar: Ich mag Caol Ila, der 12jährige ist ein Preis-Leistungssieger. Den Preisaufschlag von G&M ist bei gerade einem Jahr Altersunterschied nicht erechtfertigt. In jedem Fall würde ich den überragenden Ladaig aus der Discovery-Serie vorziehen.
