Chichibu Ichiro's Malt The Peated released the exclusive single malt whisky with an intense peat smoke flavour under the guidance of Ichiro Akuto, the founder of the now famous Chichibu Distillery. Although this creation has no specific age statement, barley malt kilned over peat, the water used and maturation in four types of cask - Japanese oak (mizunara), ex-bourbon, ex-sherry casks and hogheads - ensure a very high standard of quality. The Distillery: Chichibu
Chichibu Distillery started producing its famous Whiskies in 2008. The distillery is owned by Venture Whisky Ltd., established by Ichiro Akuto in 2004 in Chichibu, a city in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture, about 100 kilometres from Tokyo. Ichiro Akuto was born into a family with a long brewing tradition, they had started sake brewing in Chichibu around 1625. To this day the natural environment, seasonal characteristics and the high quality of the water provide perfect conditions for distilleries.
Chichibu distillery is usually not open to the public but provides individual tours for professionals.

Aroma: Feiner Rauch in der Nase und süßer Honig, mit Kräutern, geröstetem Malz und reifen Früchten.
Geschmack: Ausreichend reiche Pfirsiche, Aprikosen, Vanille, Orangenschalen, ein wenig Pfeffer, intensiver Rauch und mineralisch bis erdig.
Abgang: Mittelkräftig und würzig mit Karamell, Zitrusnoten und Lagerfeuerrauch.
Geschmack: Ausreichend reiche Pfirsiche, Aprikosen, Vanille, Orangenschalen, ein wenig Pfeffer, intensiver Rauch und mineralisch bis erdig.
