Dewar's Double Agent is split into two batches after double maturation. The first batch is matured in sweet sherry casks, the other in smoky Islay casks, which is how the bottling got its name 'Double Agent'. The whiskies are then married together again, resulting in a deliciously sweet whisky with mysterious smoky notes. Or is it a smoky whisky with hidden sweet notes?

Aroma: Süß mit Akzenten von Rauch, Aprikosen und Honig.
Geschmack: Torfrauch und fruchtige Facetten verbinden sich angenehm und komplex.
Abgang: Lang, wärmend und leicht rauchig.

Geschmack: Fruchtig, würzig und glatt: Datteln, Rosinen, Sultannine tanzen auf der Zunge. Der Rauch ist etwas stärker im Geschmack und trockener werdend.
Abgang: Mittel: Zarter Rauch mit leichtem Nougat und Honig.
Kommentar: Die Story und die Machart ist top! Der Whisky entäuscht mich allerdings! Der Rauch ist nicht gut eingebunden (weder Geschmack noch Geruch). Der Abgang, trotz 16 Jahre Alter, viel zu knapp ausgefallen. Die nur "40" Volumen tun ihr übriges: Einfach zu schwach auf der Brust! Waren vielleicht nicht die besten Fässer für den Blend. Ich schätze sehr starkgebrauchte Fässer (auf keine Fall erst- oder zweitgebrauchte Fässer). Der Dewar's 18 Jahre ist und bleibt der Geschmacks-Krösus im ihrem Sortiment! Allerdings gibt es viel schlechtere Blends in ihrem Portfolio (Dewars White Label, grauenhaft dieser Blendwhisky!) Deswegen 3 Sterne für den hier!
