Product description
Glenfarclas 105 proof refers to the old measure of alcohol content. The whisky was mixed with gunpowder. The alcohol content could be calculated based on the explosive strength of the mixture. The Glenfarclas 105 named after it matured exclusively in sherry casks and was bottled at a strong 60% vol.

The Distillery: Glenfarclas
Only a few distilleries in Scotland are still private owned. The Speyside distillery Glenfarclas is one of them. Maybe it’s the best known among them and maybe it’s one of the most successful family owned distilleries in Scotland ever. But for sure the Grants, owners of Glenfarclas, are very proud of the private status as their slogan “The Spirit of Independence” shows. Six generations of Grants have shaped Glenfarclas, from 1865 until today. This guaranteed a constancy of quality and foresight that a durable product as Whisky needs. There is hardly another distillery that has as much high quality and old Whiskies in its warehouses as Glenfarclas.

Kommentar: Einer meiner absoluten Favoriten. Die Stärke von 60% lässt sehr viel Spielraum zum herunterkühlen. Ich bevorzuge eine Trinkstärke von 48%. Früchte und Sherry sind zu Beginn allgegenwärtig. Später und im Abgang gesellen sich holzige Eichenoten dazu. PLV ist m.E. fast unschlagbar.

Kommentar: .. wunderbar!!- typischer Glenfarclas- Geschnack, mit sehr viel Stärke und Sherry... vielleicht etwas 'frisch'- kräftig, aber: ein tolles Cask- strengh!- Und für den Preis ideal...// Ich trinke es unverdünnt; und eigentlich nur Islay: aber hier mache ich gerne eine " Ausnahme" ????...
