Product description
Jameson Caskmates Stout matured in Irish stout barrels. At one time, Jameson lent some barrels to the neighbouring Franciscan Wells stout brewery. After the beer had matured, the barrels were brought back to the distillery. The Master Distiller then unceremoniously decided to age whiskey in the barrels. Stout beer is characterised by sweet chocolate and coffee aromas, which can also be found in the whiskey aroma.

Comment: Sweet nose, slightly herbal with some dry oak, a tad youthful. Very sweet on the palate, herbal, very dry oak and a little bit of a youthful burn. The palate matches the nose, no surprises waiting in there. Adding water doesn't change much, at 40% it's already watered down quite a bit, maybe the sweetness is a bit more pronounced (which it honestly doesn't need).
It's not horrible but it's nothing special.
I normally use this whisky (or something similar) to warm my palate before tasting something more interesting
