The name La Mauny alludes to the founding of the distillery, which began producing rum in the middle of the 18th century, even before the first British distillery opened for business. Ambre Rhum is made from sugar cane juice and matured for at least 3 months in oak barrels in the tropical climate of Martinique. It is ideal for long drinks or cocktails.

The Rum distillery Maison La Mauny is named after the then Comte de Mauny, who emigrated from France to Martinique in 1749 and married the daughter of a sugar cane plantation owner there. Rhum Agricole has been produced since 1820.
