Product description
The Corriecravie Edition is the Lagg Distillery's second bottling, made from Concerto barley malt and water from its own well. It is matured in bourbon casks and finished for about six more months in oloroso sherry hogsheads sourced directly from Bodega Miguel Martin in Jerez. The Single Malt is bottled at 55% vol. without chill filtration or added colouring. The result is a whisky with sweet smoky notes and rich fruity notes. The earthy peat and spice notes typical of the distillery round off the creation. Corriecravie is a hamlet northwest of the village of Lagg that has many secrets and stories of its own to tell. The hilly terrain was home to a number of illegal stills that produced the infamous 'Arran water' in the days of early distillation on the island. Close to the village is Torr a' Chaisteil Dun - a fortress dating from the later Iron Age some 2000 years ago, known locally as Castle Hill.

Lagg is the second distillery of Isle of Arran Distillers to produce Whisky on the Isle of Arran, alongside Lochranza distillery. The modern distillery building that opened in 2019, is modelled on the contours of the mountains on the Isle of Arran, as seen from the tiny island of Ailsa Craig.

Aroma: voll, reichhaltig nach Beeren, Schokolade, poliertem Leder, Möbelpolitur und zarter Rauch, die Zugabe von Wasser entlässt deutlich mehr Rauch
Geschmack: kraftvoll und wuchtig, alle Aromen der Nase erscheinen auf der Zunge, würzige Eiche
Abgang: extrem lang und anhaltend
Kommentar: genau das, was man vom rauchigem Bruder der tollen Lochranza Whiskys erwartet, hier an der Südspitze der Insel versteht man exzellente Whiskys zu machen, wie man sie vom Nordende her kennt, man darf gespannt in die Zukunft blicken

Kommentar: für einen solch jungen Whisky wirklich sehr gut. Man schmeckt die Jugend, aber die Sherryaromen und der Rauch sind wunderbar.
Das PLV ist leider nicht gut. Aus meiner Sicht ein Whisky für 40 bis 45€. Daher nur 4 Sterne.

Kommentar: Ein junger Rüpel mit schmackhaften kräftigem Rauch, der einem nach einem ordentlichen Kinnhaken aber mit Sherryeinfluss die Wange streichelt. Erfüllt die Erwartungen!
