The area around the distillery, which is located on the remote island of Islay (pronounced 'Ei-la') off the west coast of Scotland, is just as beautiful. Kommentar: Mit diesem Klassiker werde ich irgendwie nicht warm... Viel Rauch, aber aus meiner Sicht kommen andere Aromen zu kurz. Eher eindimensional! Da gefallen mir andere Islay Malts anderer Brennereien teilweise deutlich besser, ebenso der Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

Kommentar: Man liebt es oder man hasst es. Wer kennt sie nicht, diese Ehrfurcht bevor man eine Flasche Laphroaig öffnet und in einer Arztpraxis steht und der Geschmack sich einfach dunkel anfühlt.
Doch vorbei! Laphroaig ist keine Medizinbombe mehr. die neue Machart schmeckt durchaus gut. Wofür man aber Laphroaig lieben gelernt hat ist weg. Das medizinische rückt weit in den Hintergrung, kein Darth Vader mehr der einen auf die dunkle Seite zieht.
