This Raasay Single Malt is a tribute to the iconic peak of Dùn Caan (Dùn Cana in Gaelic), the highest hill on the Isle of Raasay. Peated and unpeated distillate is married in former Kentucky rye whiskey casks and finished for nine months in small quarter casks (125 litres), which were previously filled with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry from Bodega Miguel Martin. The whisky is the first in the now annual Dùn Cana series, in which each edition differs slightly in cask composition or age.

Milder Rauchiger mit leichten süßen Sherry Tönen und langanhaltend pfeffrig und leichter Lagerfeuerrauch. Alkohol auf Grund des hohen Vol%und Jungfreulichkeit im Geschmack und im Geruch spürbar. Verträgt auch sicherlich paar tropfen Wasser.

Kommentar: Bisher hatte ich nur den "Standard". Dieser war geprägt von den Rye-Fässern und dem leichten Rauch, diese Kombination hatte ich bisher noch in keinem anderen Whisky und diese Noten sind auch hier für mich im Vordergrund. So ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal macht einen Whisky immer erstmal interessant. Als Liebhaber von SHerry Whisky finde ich hier schöne Noten von getrockneten Früchten und Schokolade. Leider ist die Jungend noch sehr spührbar. Diesen WHisky würde ich sehr gern mit ein paar Jahren mehr auf dem Buckel noch einmal probieren. So ist es ein: Schöne Ansätze, wenn da jetzt noch Alter dazu kommt dann kann dass was tolles werden...

Etwas verhalten, leicht süßlich, würzige lightly Peated Noten

Typische Sherry Noten, verbinden sich mit leichtem Rauch, etwas metallisch, dunkelfruchtig
Abgang:
Mittellang, ok, glaube den leicht würzigen Touch der ex Rye Fässer treffen nicht ganz so meinen Geschmack
