Rivière du Mât XO Traditional Vieux Rhum

The XO Traditional Vieux Rhum is blended from the oldest matured molasses rums of the Rivière du Mât distillery. The distillation of the individual rums took place on column stills, the maturation in oak barrels. The Rivière du Mât distillery, which has existed since 1886, was named after a legend in which a ship that had set out to explore the island off Madagascar ran aground in a riverbed on the island of La Rèunion. Only the mast still protruded from the river, making it known as the Rivière du Mât, the "river of the mast". The mast became the symbol of the distillery and resembles the column still used by Rivière du Mât to distil their Rhum Traditionelle de la Réunion. Unsweetened and uncoloured, the rum is bottled at 42% vol.
