With the Woodford Reserve Barrel Strength Rye, the Woodford Distillery from Kentucky is launching a strictly limited special edition on the market. This is the distillery's first rye whiskey at cask strength, which is bottled unfiltered and without reduction. The Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey was produced under the direction of Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall using a pre-Prohibition-inspired recipe. The mash bill consists of 53% rye and corresponds to the tried and tested recipe of Woodford Reserve Rye. It is traditionally distilled in copper pot stills, which gives the whiskey additional depth and complexity. Maturation takes place in new, charred American oak barrels. Several barrels are carefully blended for bottling, whereby the whiskey retains its natural cask strength. The end result is 125.1 proof or 62.55% vol. which reflects the unadulterated character of the rye. Aromatically, the Woodford Reserve Barrel Strength Rye honours the tradition of classic American rye whiskeys: intense spice and tobacco notes characterise the profile, complemented by fruity, floral nuances and a subtle sweetness. Compared to the regular bottling, the flavours are significantly more powerful and complex. The limited edition underlines Woodford Reserve's claim to authentically interpret historical whiskey styles and create exceptional flavour experiences for discerning connoisseurs.

Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one. And if you look at the nice grey stone buildings in the very charming setting you also may agree that it is the most beautiful one.
