For the 20th edition of the Woodford Master's Collection, Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall chose a special cask and whiskey combination. Woodford Reserve Bourbon aged in Madeira casks was combined with the fruity Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey for this limited edition bottling. The barrels used were carefully selected on the Madeira Islands to preserve the characteristic flavours of Madeira wine. They are known for their rich notes of dried fruit, spices and nuts. These combine perfectly with the flavours of the Woodford Reserve Whiskey. The blended whiskey was bottled at 45.2% vol. This anniversary edition not only celebrates 20 years of first-class craftsmanship, but also shows how much innovative spirit there is in Woodford Reserve.

The Distillery: Woodford Reserve
Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one. And if you look at the nice grey stone buildings in the very charming setting you also may agree that it is the most beautiful one.

Herstellerbeschreibungon 25.04.2025Aroma: Dunkle Kirschen und kandierte Orangen, verfeinert mit Kakaopulver, verbinden sich mit hellen Pfeffernoten, Nelken, Muskatnuss und etwas Zedernholz.
Geschmack: Reichhaltig mit Eichenaromen, Zimt, Nelke und Tabak die in robuste Noten von getrockneten dunklen Früchten wie Rosinen und Preiselbeeren übergehen.
Abgang: Anhaltend und wärmend mit hellen Gewürznoten, dazu Anklänge von Beerenfrüchten und einem Hauch von dunklem Kakao.
Geschmack: Würzig, holzig und robust: Viel Mokka oder Zartbitterschokolade, Zimt, Kakaupulver, Vanille und Karamell.
Abgang: Lang. Viel Mokka und Schokolade klingen nach.
Kommentar: Die Edition Nr. 20 ist gut gelungen! Die Fassauswahl ist gut getroffen! Nur fand ich die Abfüllung vom letzten Jahr mit Sonoma Triple Finish besser! Liegt aber nur an ein Paar Nuancen. Trotzdem ein gut gemachter amerikanischer Whisky, der sich sehr von der Masse abhebt! Woodford ist und bleibt meine Lieblingsbrennerei aus den USA!
