Variety Kentucky Straight Malt
Aroma Soft, nutty notes with light caramel and milk chocolate. Accompanied by fruity notes like apple, dried fruit and tropical fruit. Followed by brown spices, sugar and mint.
Taste Dark chocolate, caramel, cocoa powder coated nuts and spices. Toasted coconut with oak notes.
Finish Nutty with sweet chocolate and malt notes.

Woodford Reserve Malt is part of the series of four Kentucky straight whiskeys from the Woodford distillery, each of which contains one of the four main types of grain as the largest proportion: Corn (Bourbon), Rye (Rye), Malted Barley (Malt) and Wheat (Wheat). The mash from overseas differs from the classic recipes: corn (47%) and rye (2%) are combined with barley malt (51%). Malt production is traditionally Scottish territory. The American Woodford distillery is now adding a Kentucky straight malt to its range.

Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one.     Abgang: Malz, leichte Kakaonote, relativ lang

    Kommentar: Wie immer bei Woodford ein Whiskey mit deutlichem Eichencharakter, der sich in einer gewissen Würze wiederspiegelt.

    Gelungener Everyday Sip für unter 40€.

    Kommentar: Eine sehr gut gelungene Symbiose aus Malt und Bourbonwhisky. Ein sehr feiner Tropfen. Für mich ähnlich überraschend wie der Double Oaked.
    Empfehlenswert.

    Geschmack:
    Malzcharakter, dunkle Schokolade, brauner Zucker, geröstete Nüsse und subtile Gewürznote von Zimt. Cremige Textur.

    Abgang:
    Mittellang bis lang, wärmend, mit anhaltenden Noten von Kakao, Süße und einem Hauch von Würze.

    Balance:
    Harmonische Integration von Malz, Süße und Fassnoten, gut ausbalanciert.
