This Strathmill Whisky was bottled by Andrew Symington and the Signatory Vintage team in the 100 Proof Ediion series as number 36 of the Single Malt Whisky series. Exclusive whiskies with an alcohol content of at least 57.1% vol. are bottled in the series. The term proof is an ancient unit of measurement for the alcohol content of a drink, especially whisky, which indicates the minimum alcohol content above which gunpowder soaked in the liquid can be ignited. This method was used in the heyday of seafaring so that the casks in the belly of the ship could withstand the harsh weather conditions at sea. 12 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts gave the cask-strength Speyside malt fruity flavours and fine spicy accents of oak.
