Bladnoch Tokaji Peated Single Cask 2009/

Bottled by the traditional Bladnoch Distillery, the southernmost active distillery in Scotland and one of the few remaining representatives of the Lowlands, this rare bottling comes from the eagerly awaited Peated Single Cask Collection 2024. Bladnoch, known for its elegant and mostly unpeated Lowlands malts, surprises with a strictly limited series that sheds light on a little-known part of its history. The Peated Collection is a tribute to the innovative spirit of the distillery and commemorates a short but significant phase: in 2009, shortly before the temporary closure, only peated casks were stored. These distillates are a real rarity today. Since the takeover by David Prior, peated distillates have been produced every year in October to continue this tradition. For the 2024 collection, Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage has selected three exceptional single casks that pay tribute to Bladnoch's hidden, smoky heritage. The Tokaji Barrel impressively demonstrates how harmoniously fine Lowlands smoke combines with the fruity sweetness of Hungarian Tokaji dessert wine casks. Notes of honey, ripe stone fruit and floral depth meet gentle peat smoke. Unlike many heavily peated whiskies from Islay or the Highlands, this bottling focuses on elegance, balance and complexity - a real highlight for collectors and explorers of exceptional Single Malts.
