Currach is a triple-distilled Irish Single Malt that was given a special finish after maturing in bourbon casks: For this, the malt was decanted into Virgin Oak casks, which were burnt out with Atlantic Kombu Seaweed. Kombu is an edible seaweed that tastes mildly salty, slightly sweet and intensely umami - the fifth quality of the sense of taste alongside sweet, sour, salty and bitter. Kombu is well known as an ingredient in Asian cuisine, but it is also harvested and used in dishes according to a long tradition in Ireland. The special cask-burning process gives the whiskey its special aroma. The Single Malt is named after a time-honoured ship used by monks to explore unexplored lands.

    Abgang:

    Kommentar: Ein runder Whiskey mit sehr ungewöhnlicher Geschmackscharakteristik. Super!

    Aroma: So wie beschrieben. Ich finde allerdings bereits in der Nase einen Hauch von Rauch.

    Geschmack: Süße, Karamell, herbe Schokolade und leichte Salzigkeit. Insgesamt trocken.

    Abgang: Mittelgang, nussige Noten am Ende

    Kommentar: interessanter Whisky; Preis/Leistung top! macht besonders Spaß mit mehreren Freunden; es gibt viel zu entdecken

    Kommentar: eigentlich nicht schlecht. Aber überhaupt nicht das, was ich erwartet habe. Von martitimen Noten oder Seetang habe ich (zumindest bei einem Blindtasting) nichts gemerkt
