Beschrijving van het product
Greign is a Single Grain Whisky from the Macduff distillery. The original founders of the distillery buy exceptional old casks for the maturation of their whiskies. The Greign was matured in a mixture of sherry casks and freshly burnt-out casks, making the single grain a smooth, full-bodied dram.

Macduff is one of the newer distilleries in Speyside, having been founded in 1958. Morty Dyke, George Crawford, James Stirret, and Brodie Hepburn founded the distillery. Aroma: Sweet Vanilla Wheat Etwas stechend, typische Grain Nase mit einer Mixtur aus Klebstoffnote und Zitrusreiniger. Wenn sich die Nase dran gewöhnt hat, findet man eine süßliche Vanille. Wenig komplex.

Geschmack: Wheat Sweet Sherry Fruit Spices Im Geschmack deutlich verbessert. Sehr süß, auch etwas vom Sherry und Früchte findet man nun. Allerdings nur einen Hauch von Gewürzen. Recht leicht.

Abgang: Wheat Sweet Sherry Spices Herb Oak Im Abgang verblassen die süßen-würzigen Momente und der Sherry recht flott. Was bleibt, ist eine trockene, etwas pappige Bitterkeit vom Grain.

Kommentar: meine Erwartungshaltung war zwar gering (da ich von Macduff bisher noch nie was brauchbares im Glas hatte), wurde aber leider dennoch enttäuscht. Für den Preis zwar durchaus trinkbar, aber man muss das mögen und keine allzu hohen Ansprüche haben. Ich würde eher ein paar Euro mehr hinlegen und dafür etwas hochwertigeres kaufen. Aroma: anfangs eine etwas unangenehme Grain typische Alkohol Note

Geschmack: rund aber in Betracht der 20 Jahre im Fass eher flach und wenig Aromatisch. Auch die Sherry Aromen sind nur leicht vorhanden

Abgang: mittel bis kurzer Abgang

Kommentar: Der Preis von ca. 33 Euro spiegelt auch den Wert im aromatischen Sinn wieder, Nicht zu hohe Erwartungen an die 20 Fassjahre knüpfen
