The Chichibu Ichiro's Malt Red Wine Cask was matured in red wine casks under the guidance of Ichiro Akuto, the founder of the now famous Chichibu Distillery, and provides a deep insight into the Japanese way of making whisky. The casks used came from France, the USA, New Zealand and Japan and provide deep and complex flavours.

The Distillery: Chichibu
Chichibu Distillery started producing its famous Whiskies in 2008. The distillery is owned by Venture Whisky Ltd., established by Ichiro Akuto in 2004 in Chichibu, a city in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture, about 100 kilometres from Tokyo. Ichiro Akuto was born into a family with a long brewing tradition, they had started sake brewing in Chichibu around 1625. To this day the natural environment, seasonal characteristics and the high quality of the water provide perfect conditions for distilleries.
Chichibu distillery is usually not open to the public but provides individual tours for professionals.

Aroma: Harmonische Mischung aus Honig, Edelholz und unterschiedlichen Früchten wie Mispel, Waldbeeren und Zitrusfrüchten.
Geschmack: Reiche Noten von roten Früchten, Blaubeeren, Zitrusfrüchten und Mispel. Anklänge von Minze, frischer Lakritze, pflanzliche und holzige Noten mit einem Akzent von edler Zeder, bittere Kakaonoten, ausgewogen durch den Hauch von Karamell.
Abgang: Anhaltende, angenehme Bitterkeit mit Nelken- und Orangennoten, gleichzeitig bleibt eine anhaltende Süße, die an Milchschokolade erinnert.
