Aroma: Ein schöner Holzrauch duftet die Nase hoch. Daneben entwickeln sich Zitrusnoten, vielleicht auch Grapefruit. Schnell kommen auch dunkle Beeren (Heidelbeere, Brombeere) mit ins Aromenspiel. Bei langem Riechen gesellt sich noch eine Nuance Minze dazu. Immer präsent der Rauch und die Verknüpfung zu einem alten Holzschrank. (22)
Geschmack: Der Holzrauch beginnt trocken mit einer Brise weißem Pfeffer. Salziges Karamell und Toffeespuren. Öligkeit im Mund und wieder die dunklen Früchte. Eine leichte Bitterkeit von Tanninen aus der Eiche. Modriger Waldboden, speckig und verbrannte Kohle. Die Zugabe von Wasser bringt süße Noten zurück. (23)
Abgang: Hm, der könnte ruhig ein wenig länger durchhalten – eher mittellang. Der Rauch nimmt ab und macht süßem Karamell Platz. Daneben noch Früchte und eine Spur Ingwer. Ein maritimer Eindruck entsteht durch ein leicht salziges Empfinden. (21)
Kommentar: Ich bin sehr angetan von der Arbeit des Bruichladdich-Teams. Ein grundsolider Dram, der Lust auf einen oder zwei Schluck mehr macht. Kein Wunder, dass meine zweite Flasche auch schon fast leer getrunken ist. Für jemanden der rauchige Whiskys mag, sollte der in keiner Bar fehlen. (22)
