Original bottlings from the Craigellachie distillery have been available again since 2014. The distillery continues to use traditional worm tubs to cool the distillate. They give the whisky a special Taste. The popular 13-year-old Single Malt is now also available as a small bottle with 0.2 litres.

De Distilleerderij: Craigellachie

In the heart of the Speyside near the little town of Craigellachie/Banffshire lies a distillery that was founded in 1891 at the peak of the Whisky boom and survived until today. Aroma: Säuerlicher Grundcharakter.

Geschmack: Passend zum Aroma primär sauer, aber auch würzig.

Abgang: Die Würze kriecht langsam den Rachen hinunter, verfliegt dann und wird wieder zu einem sauren Geschmack.

Kommentar: Full circle. Von sauer zu würzig zu sauer. Nicht bitter, nicht süß, fruchtig nur aufgrund der zitrusfruchtartigen Säure. Die 46% tun dem Gesamteindruck gut (nicht verwässert). Solide, aber mit wenig tiefgehenden Nuancen. Konzentriert sich auf die genannten Kernkompetenzen und kann diese.

Kommentar: Ja was ist das denn...ich hatte mich darauf eingestellt, dass der Geschmack bei den eingesetzten Worm Tubs charaktervoll ist. Bin nicht enttäuscht worden. Wird auf jeden Fall einen festen Stammplatz in meiner Whiskysammlung bekommen...Daumen hoch!
