The Glen Moray Phoenix Rising with a finish in heavily charred casks is produced in the Speyside distillery Glen Moray. The single malt initially matured in the usual bourbon casks, but was then filled into new, but very heavily charred oak casks for post-maturing. The Glen Moray Phoenix Rising was bottled at 40% vol.

Aroma: Leichte Pfeffernote mit Mandarinen, Äpfeln und leichten Eichenaromen.

Geschmack: Leichte Vanille mit Ingwer, Gewürze und leichten Eichenaromen.

Abgang: Lang mit pfeffriger Schärfe, leichten Eichenaromen, Gewürzen und leichter Bitterkeit.

Aroma: Trotz der "nur" 40 Volumen eine volles, vielseitiges Geschmackskarusell: Vanille, helle Früchte, Schokolade, etwas Marzipan und Kokusnussöl.

Geschmack: Delikat, voll und süßlich: Sirupartig, mit Vanille, Kokosraspeln, Karamell und Pfeffer/Lebkuchen.

Abgang: Mittel. Pfeffer, Malz und Vanille kämpfen miteinander; am Ende gewinnt die zarte leichte Eichenfracht.

Kommentar: Eigentlich ist dieser Single Malt nur die Neuauflage des "Glen Moray Fired Oak" von vor ein paar Jahren! Geschmack und Geruch nahezu identisch! Und dan auch noch rund 10 Euro teurer! Dennoch für Anfänger wie Fortgeschrittene geeignet. Umverpackung und neuer Name etwas zu kitschig, geht aber noch. Für einen Glen Moray ganz akzeptabel.

Kommentar: Destillat und Bourbonfassreifung eher unterdurchschnittlich, die Dechar-/Recharfässer motzen ihn aber ganz gut auf. Ein Teil der 4 Sterne natürlich für das enorm gute PLV.
