The Xaman XO rum is the new flagship of the Salvadorian Cihuatán distillery. Distilled in the column still, it is then matured for 16 years. Of these, 15 years in ex-bourbon barrels and about one year in Mayan ceiba wood. The indigenous peoples attribute a special significance to this type of wood, which is found all over the world, because they saw a mystical connection between the three worlds (heaven, earth and underworld) in the large tree. The rum owes its name to the Mayan god of the polar star. The "Licorera Cihuatán" distillery was opened in 2004 and is the only rum distillery in El Salvador so far. The brand identity is meant to reflect the Mayan tradition of the country.

The Cihuatán Valley in El Salvador is home to the Rum distillery of the same name, which has been in operation since 2004 and bottled its first Rums in 2014. The distillery is the only Rum producer in the country and draws its inspiration from the ancient Mayan heritage of El Salvador.
