Rivière du Mât Millésime Vieux Rhum 14 Years 2006/

Rivière du Mât Millésime Traditional Vieux Rhum comes from the small island of La Rèunion and is made from molasses. Distillation takes place on column stills, followed by maturation for 14 years in oak barrels. The Rivière du Mât distillery, which has existed since 1886, was named after a legend in which a ship that had set out to explore the island off Madagascar ran aground in a river bed on the island of La Rèunion. Only the mast still protruded from the river, making it known as the Rivière du Mât, the "river of the mast". The mast became the symbol of the distillery and resembles the column still used by Rivière du Mât to distil their Rhum Traditionelle de la Réunion. Unsweetened and uncoloured, the molasses rum is bottled at 43% vol.
