This Edradour was released by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage and is part of the Un-Chillfiltered Collection. After 9 years in a first-fill sherry butt, the single malt from the Highland distillery was bottled exclusively for Whisky.de at cask strength. Naturally without chill-filtering and in its natural colour. The label bears many notable details about the vintage, bottling year, age, cask type and cask number.

Kommentar: Genialer Whisky.
1. Tasting 1/5 Stunde nach der Öffnung der Flasche . Kein typischer Whisky. Nase: Zuerst eine Salznote, Meerbrise, danach Sherry und warme Schokolade.
Geschmack: Sherry, warme Schokolade.
Abgang: lang anhaltend, warm mit viel Marzipan.
2. Tasting 1 Tag nach der Öffnung der Flasche. Nase: Sherry, Pflaume, eine richtige Sherry Bombe.
Geschmack: Sherry, süss, getrocknete Früchte, Pflaume. Die Schärfe des Alkohols ist für eine Fassstärke gut ausbalanciert. Für eine Fassstärke eher mild.
Abgang: Lang, Sherry, süss, milde Schärfe des Alkohols.

Comment: Mich wunderts, dass keiner die Salzigkeit erwähnt. Neben dem dominanten Cherry Charakter das erste was man auf der Zunge wahrnimmt. Macht aber sehr schnell Platz für komplexe Früchte von süß bis würzig. Abgang lang und ähnlich komplex. Ein bisschen seifig/ölig aber im positiven Sinne. Komplex, stark, aber Rauch/Torf hat er kaum. Bin begeistert!

Erinnert insgesamt sehr an einen Weinbrand / Cognac. Wenn man dieses Profil mag, dann ist es hier sehr gut umgesetzt. Wenn man einen Single MALT will, bei dem sofort klar ist dass hier Gerstenmalz destilliert wurde, wird hier höchstwahrscheinlich nicht zufrieden sein.
