This straight bourbon consists of 5 to 7 year old bourbons, which have a slightly higher rye content and are blended together. All of them matured in burnt-out barrels made of American white oak. The George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled without cold filtration, with a drinking strength of 47 percent by volume (94 proof) and is a tribute to the courageous namesake. George Remus worked as a pharmacist during Prohibition and was able to smuggle and sell his Bourbon creation under the guise of medicine.

The Ross & Squibb distillery looks back on a long history. It was originally founded in Lawrenceburg, Indiana in 1847 by George Ross as the Rossville Distillery. It was acquired by food manufacturer MGP in 2011 and produces George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Rossville Union Straight Rye, among others.

Aroma: Noten von Ahornsirup verbinden sich mit Anklängen süßer Vanille. Zimt, Toffee und feine Sahnearomen folgen nach.
Geschmack: Vollmundig und cremig mit Roggen-, Vanille- und Zimtnoten. Die süßlichen Akzente von Ahornsirup gehen zum Ende hin in eine angenehme Würze über.
Abgang: Langanhaltend, leicht süß mit Facetten von exotischen Gewürzen.

Abgang: Lang (47 % tragen in sehr weit). Trocken, würziger werdend mit ordentlich Karamell, wenig Vanille und Zimt.
Kommentar: Ein Bourbon auf der starken Seite! Nicht für Anfänger geeignet. Preis/Leistung sehr gut. Der gute alte George Remus hat´s halt immer noch voll drauf!
