To honour Alexandre Gabriel's 20th anniversary as Master Blender at Plantation, the Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created from a combination of typical, extra old molasses rums from Barbados. The rum first matures for many years in bourbon barrels in Barbados and is then transferred to the south-west of France to mature further in small French Ferrand oak barrels. The mix of so-called tropical ageing and continental ageing is a procedure that is over a hundred years old and is known as 'double ageing'. It gives the rum a balanced smoothness and complexity. The tropical maturation lasts 8-15 years before the continental maturation of 2-10 years follows. This includes new white oak barrels, bourbon barrels and ex-cognac barrels from Ferrand for the final maturation.
This practical gift set also includes 2 elegant tumbler glasses with Plantation lettering.
