The Tamdhu Cigar Malt is matured in hand-picked, first-fill European Oloroso sherry casks from Andalusia, which gives the whisky special flavours and a strong colour. The Speyside is ideal for all those who like to puff a cigar with a dram. The elegant glass bottle is reminiscent of Victorian times.

La distillerie: Tamdhu
Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Since 2011 the distillery belongs to Ian Macleod Distillers who meanwhile started a revival of the brand and relaunched the Single Malt Tamdhu successfully.

Kommentar: Preis für einen NAS natürlich fraglich, aber …
Vor 8 Jahren gab es gute sherryfassgereifte Single Malts mit Altersangabe für ca. 100€, heute kosten diese Flaschen leider das Doppelte und sind (in Ermangelung guter Fässer?) oft schwächer geworden.
Beim Tamdhu Cigar Malt stimmt für mich die Fassqualität und vermute das bei der Farbe und der Aromenfülle der Anteil jüngeren Malts eher gering ist und dazu dient etwas mehr Druck hinein zubringen.
