Now in its 11th batch, the cask-strength ten-year-old Glenallachie is a marriage of whisky from Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks and a small amount of virgin oak and red wine casks. Under the direction of Billy Walker, the former Master Distiller of famous distilleries, Glenallachie has been given a new lease of life. It is bottled at cask strength and the new design for the bottle label and outer packaging shines in a vibrant green, which harmonises very well with the brownish colour of the single malt whisky.

Kommentar: Wie immer hervorragend. Ich muss ja sagen, dass ich den Stil der GA-Fassstärken sehr mag. Da habe ich auch als jemand der nicht die feinste Nase hat viel zu schnüffeln und kann die verschiedenen Aromen erkennen. Sherry-Bombe muss man natürlich mögen und "frische" Aromen findet man hier eher nicht. Aber wenn man auf richtig schwere, beerig-schokoladige Sherry-Bretter steht, dann muss man hier zugreifen...

Aroma: Reichhaltige Mokkanoten und Heidehonig gehen in Anklänge von Zimt, Pfannkuchen und karamellisierten braunen Zucker über. Birnen- und Ingwerkeksaromen folgen.

Geschmack: Dunkle Schokolade, geröstete Honigwaben und Melassenoten gehen in Facetten von reifen Pflaumen, Haselnüssen, Ingewer und roten Beeren über.
