Suntory Hakushu comes from the Hakushu distillery, which was built on Mount Kaikomagatake in 1973. This makes it one of the highest distilleries in the world. In honour of the centenary of House of Suntory, it is now being given a limited edition bottling.
Hakushu translates as white sandbanks. This single malt whisky was named after the rich mineral deposits in the river on the island of Honshu that leads to the Suntory distillery.
